Practice Manager

Our Practice Manager Lorna has recently left the Practice and is starting a new venture in Australia, we hope to update you all with our New Practice Managers details as soon as possible.

Operations Manager

Helen is our Operations Manager at the Practice, she has many years of experience in Primary Care. She works closely with Lorna to ensure the smooth running of the practice and to support our Clinical and Non-Clinical teams and patients.

HR & Finance Lead

Clarie has many years experience in HR and Finance and has been with the Practice for the past 2 years. Clarie's dual role ensures employee's needs are met and the general welfare within the Practice for all staff, she also makes sure the budgets are spent wisely for the benefit of our Patients.

Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Tabetha joined the Practice in November 2023. Originally trained as nurse in 1996, after a few years in emergency care she went on to further study, completing independent prescribing in 2007. Tabetha obtained a bachelors degree with post graduate certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice in 2011. Tabetha has a keen interest in skin complaints and in 2022 she completed a post graduate diploma in clinical dermatology with distinction.

Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner

Danielle joined the practice in June 2023. She qualified as an Adult Nurse in 2019 and worked in Community and Primary Care since then. Danielle has completed further study in Wound Management, Minor Illness and has just recently started her MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice which includes her prescribing.

Nurses

We have a team of Practice Nurses. Practice Nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears and administer vaccinations. The team consists of Laura (Lead Practice Nurse), Carolyn, Cheryl, and Louise (Nurse Associate).

Phlebotomist

Our phlebotomist, Janet, takes blood from patients and can also take blood pressure readings.

Healthcare Assistants

Our healthcare assistant, Amanda, supports the practice nurses with their daily work and carries out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. Amanda may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Admin and Data Team Lead

Michelle started her career as a Nurse and trained in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Once qualified she worked on the Surgical Wards until leaving to have a family. Michelle then joined the Civil Service in 1995 where she worked for the Communications and IT unit. Family moved to Suffolk in 2006. Joined the Surgery team in June 2007 and now leads our Admin Team.

Administration

Michelle leads our admin and data team at the practice. Behind the scenes they process several hundred letters and communications that come into the practice every day. They download results, monitor and recall patients for review, maintain disease registers, process insurance work and arrange our vaccination clinics

Reception Team Lead

Sue is our Reception Team Lead and has many years of experience working in a patient facing roll. She works closely with the clinicians and her team to maximise the amount of appointments the surgery can offer.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. Our team consists of, Sue (Team Lead), Lucy, Jane, Sharn, Debbie, Hayley, Nicki, Kathryn and Linda. The Team work incredibly hard to service the needs of our patients

Medical Secretaries

Jen and Rebecca are both experienced Medical Secretaries who work tirelessly with the Clinical Staff and patients to ensure all correspondence and referrals to secondary care and other services are processed efficiently and meet the needs of our patients. Dispensary

Julie is our Dispensary Team Lead, she is supported by a team of qualified Dispensers, Claire, Sharon, Lisa, Angie, Sophie, Holly, Lauren, Ellena, Kristel and Nii. The team are supported by three apprentice dispensers, Lucy, Will and Elizabeth. The staff work incredibly hard to dispense medication to almost all of our patients living on the peninsular.

Midwife

The midwife sees patients who are pregnant and holds clinics in the practice.

Health Visitor

The Health Visitor is a qualified nurse who has undertaken additional training in child and adult health and development. The Health Visitor sees children under five and their families, either at home or at Holbrook surgery between 13:00 – 15:00. The Health Visitor also visits regularly some of the local Parent/Baby/Toddler groups. There is an Early Years Advisor who works with the Health Visitor and who will provide information on baby weaning and behaviour management. Contact the Health Visitor on 01473 820147.

District Nursing Team

The District Nursing Team for Holbrook and Shotley Surgeries offer nursing care to housebound patients 365 days of the year, between the hours of 8.00am and 17.00pm. They can be contacted through the surgery or via the district nurse answer phone on 0300 123 2425.
